Loftys Cottage

Previously a coastguard cottage, built around 1880, situated high on the western slope of Cadgwith Cove, located on the unspoilt Lizard Peninsula in South Cornwall.

Tastefully refurbished by the current owner who has taken extreme care to preserve and enhance the charm and fabric of the original cottage. Full of character and steeped in the history of a seafaring past with many of the original Victorian features still there to be seen, interwoven with modern comforts and convenience.

Enter the cottage from a secluded walled courtyard, which can be found at the end of an unmade leafy track. Walk into a contemporary maple and oak kitchen/dining room, with slate work surfaces and modern domestic appliances. Everything about he kitchen décor is subtle, from the warm colours to the etchings on the walls produced by local artists.

Move on into the comfortable cosy lounge, with its wood burning stove, where it is easy to relax enjoying the ambience or simply staring out of the French door, which leads to a sunny south facing garden, overlooking the sea. In the garden guests can while away the days and evenings reading, having fun or simply soaking up the suns rays and sounds of the seagulls.

On the first floor is the bathroom with a shower cubicle big enough for two people, sorry there is no bath.

The main bedroom is tastefully decorated and the furniture, including a kingsize bed, is made of oak. Sitting up in bed it is possible to gaze out of the window and watch the ships go by. In the room is an original serpentine fireplace and, behind a door, the coastguard ‘watch’ platform, with a brass telescope in situ. All the ingredients for a quiet restful nights sleep without noise or light pollution, as there are no street lights in the Cove.

In the second bedroom are two modern pine single beds and another ornate serpentine fireplace. In all the cottage offers comfortable accommodation for up to four people.
